Gary Tumulty and the fake BNP Asylum Letter

Gary Tumulty, Salford BNP Organisazer28th November, 2011 16:49

It looks like Gary Tumulty the Local BNP Organiser for Salford and uploader of people's personal details to Neo-Nazi sites Stormfront and Redwatch is angling for new areas of unrest and political instability on his own doorstep in Salford.

Tumulty who lists his occupation on his Facebook page as a Caretaker and his employers as Salford City Council: 2006-Present, appears to be the author of not one but two faked letters alleging to be from Salford Asylum Applications Programme , in which details of payments for utilities to asylum seekers covering the Christmas and New Year Holiday period are being discussed.

Tumulty, who has close links to the BNP's John Quinn (also local to Salford and belonging to various far right groups on social networking sites, including Facebook), has sought to distribute the fake letters in a spurious attempt to gain support among the wider community with predictable results. A local resident Paul Nyles who claims to be a campaigning Christian Minister has commented upon matters with the usual knee jerk reactionary claiming that he is targeted as a christian and a gay man by 'immigrants' who would 'seek to kill him'. Nyles claims to live in neighbouring accommodation to those of Asylum Status in comments visible on a thread on facebook. It should be noted that Reverand Nyles' ordination is self imposed via a California Sect however. He lists his occupation as a Medium, read into that what you will...

We at EDL News are highly concerned that not only is Mr Tumulty abusing his position as a Council Employee but appears to be on a mission to not only discredit the BNP's political opponents at Salford City Council but also the BNP's Political opponents in Whitehall in the shape of the coalition Government by seeking to cause political and civilunrest among local residents in the delicately balanced City of Salford, which saw scenes of rioting in the summer amongst the already disenfranchaised residents keen to exploit the anger caused by austerity measures introduced by national Government and implemented by local Government with the added aim of gaining support for the far rights programme of racially motivated politics.

It is utterly contemptible that people who have lost their homes, livelihoods and country of residence/birth and who have suffered appalling losses ranging from death, torture and maiming of friends and relatives should be further humilated, disorientated and isolated should be the subject of the smears of organisations such as the BNP, EDL and the emerging British Freedom Party (the remnants of the EDL and BNP) in order for them to make political gains from those who lives have already been devastated beyond any of most of us privileged enough to live in a democracy where we can speak relatively freely without fear of recourse by smearing them with lies to further demonise them.

The fake letter was further propagated around Facebook groups by Babs Davis of the Wigan Patriots, a collection of British National Party and English Defence League members. Davis refused to reveal the source of the letter when questioned about it's authenticity.

We have sought clarification from both the local ASPP and Salford City Council who have provided us with the following statement in order to avoid the understandably devastating consequences that such irresponsible and divisive actions of Gary Tumulty would wish to unleash upon the Salford Community but also Society at large :

Councillor Peter Connor, Lead Member for Housing at Salford City Council, said: “Funding for these fuel cards is provided by central government to provide gas and electricity for Asylum seekers who are not allowed to work in the UK.

“Usually these cards are updated once every fortnight, however during the Christmas and New-year period and following previous experience with severe weather, we are updating the cards to cover five weeks. This year the allowance is £25 per week for gas and £18 for electricity."

A spokesperson for the council went on to state that the letters are only sent out to the people who use the cards and they have no idea how the letter was leaked.

One of our contacts telephoned Tumulty this afternoon to ask for comment.  Tumulty mistook our contact for someone else and admitted  to our contact that he faked the letter and was now worried about losing his job with the council.

Our aim at EDL News as always is to expose the exploits of these repugnant individuals and their violently intended bigoted actions in order to bring about a true picture of these organisations and to let it be known to the general populace what tactics these people will use in order to destroy the democratic process along the way. We hope that you will join with us in showing our absolute contempt and disgust at such racially motivated actions and help consign them to the dustbin of history along with their political inspirations.

Well as you admitted on the phone to one of our reporters that the letter was faked and you were worried about losing your job over it, further 'evidence' provided by Salford BNP can be taken with a grain of salt.

We have updated this article to remove some of the allegations about Babs Davis and offer an apology.
